The trade associations of bakers, confectioners, and chocolatiers of the cantonal association of Solothurn and four Bernese sections merged in January 2016 to form a single association. Since then, they have been known as the Bern-Solothurn Bakers and Confectioners Association (BCBS). The new regional association has around 500 members, almost 300 of whom run their own businesses.
